According to this website, today is National Chocolate Chip Day!!! I cannot believe that schools were open and banks and post offices didn't close today to observe this special holiday. Apparently, the chocolate chip is so important to our country that National Chocolate Chip Day will be celebrated again on August 4th. Mark your calendars now. (Don't even get me started on how peeved I am that I missed National Chocolate-Covered Cashews Day on April 21st. I've already marked my calendar for next year.)
Below are some coin-sized (bigger than a penny, smaller than a nickel) chocolate chips I bought at Cost Plus World Market today. (It was right across the street from where I met Amy for lunch, so I just had to stop in to buy something I really didn't need). I don't know if these Guittard chips are a new product or if they've been around for a while and they're only new to me, but nonetheless I couldn't resist buying and trying them. Stay tuned for a recipe using them soon.

Hi, Lauren. Yes, they are really big. I haven't figured out what recipe to use them in yet. Promise me you'll live it up on August 4th, okay?
